Johanne Galipeau is a painter, puppeteer, and lantern aficionada. She
has zigzagged among many facets of the arts in her career:
writing plays for giant puppet theater, performing at festivals
and touring the country, as well as writing and illustrating a
collection of children’s stories published by Les Editions Guerin in Montreal.
Johanne
particularly loves lantern making and the magic that comes from holding a little
lantern in the big darkness. She has
organized numerous lantern workshops and lantern processions in her community
with giant puppets and local musicians. She
believes in building community through the arts.
Her passion
revolves around painting, at the moment she is back exploring abstract imagery
using cold wax and oil.
